Definition of SIPPY DIET

: a bland diet for the treatment of peptic ulcer consisting mainly of measured amounts of milk and cream, farina, and egg taken at regular hourly intervals for a specified period of time

Biographical Note for SIPPY DIET

Sippy, Bertram Welton (1866–1924), American physician. Sippy was a professor of medicine at Rush Medical College in Chicago. In 1915 he published a description of his special diet for the treatment of peptic ulcer.
